Thursday, December 14, 2006 An open letter to our fans: Guns N’ Roses regrets to announce that the following concert tour dates have been canceled: January 10: Sacramento January 11: Bakersfield January 13: Reno January 16: San Diego Because of the scheduling of these particular shows, valuable time needed by the band and record company for the proper setup and release of the album “Chinese Democracy” would have been lost. Rather than delay the album yet again, all involved have decided to remove these shows from GN’R’s schedule. We hope our fans understand and we apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused. Tickets may be refunded at point of purchase. To say the making of this album has been an unbearably long and incomprehensible journey would be an understatement. Overcoming the endless and seemingly insane amount of obstacles faced by all involved, notwithstanding the emotional challenges endured by everyone -- the fans, the band, our road crew and business team -- has at many times seemed like a bad dream in which one wakes up only to find that they are still in the nightmare. Unfortunately, this time it has been played out for over a decade in real life. The true, ongoing, behind-the-scenes triumphs and casualties are much more complicated than any negative speculation that the media or otherwise has managed to hit upon. For much of the time, various legal issues have arisen, demanding that the best way to deal with these things publicly, quite frankly, was to keep our mouths shut in an attempt to ensure the best outcome-- especially one that wouldn’t jeopardize the band or the album. It’s easy for people to point out how others have handled similar situations or how they would have dealt with these issues themselves if they encountered them in their own lives. But again, without full knowledge of the various dynamics and circumstances involved, these types of comments or commentary are just uninformed, disassociated, generally useless -- and often hindering --speculation. When I agreed to do our recent North American tour, I did it with the understanding that my manager, Merck Mercuriadis, and I were in full agreement regarding our strategy and touring plans and, most important, that any and all things needed to release the album by Dec. 26 at the latest were in place. Unfortunately, it turned out that this was not the case, and I regret to say that the album will not be released by the end of the year. Although many things went extremely well and were very exciting, there were, in our opinion, unnecessary and avoidable complications on our tour having to do with the tour routing, scheduling and album and video plans that wreaked havoc on all involved. This was compounded by an overall sense of a lack of respect by management for the band and crew and each individual's particular expertise that has resulted, unfortunately, in the end of both Guns’ and my managerial involvement with Merck Mercuriadis. In regard to a release date for the album itself, certain minor - and I do mean minor -- additions, as well as contract negotiations, need to be completed. Barring any unforeseen complications, these things have now been adequately scheduled. The band and I, along with our record company, feel that this record deserves the proper setup and promotion, not the “13 Tuesdays left” and “It may just appear in your record store” approach offered by management. We believe this strategy may have been used as a tool by management to sell this latest tour to the various promoters, and if this was the case, this was obviously unfair to them. The stress of dealing with this situation has been considerable for everyone, including the band, but more important, in our opinion, it was something utterly insane to do to our fans. You have our apologies, and please know we have been laboring over this with management for the entire North American tour. It takes approximately eight weeks for an album to hit the shelves once it has been turned in to the record company. For whatever reasons, it appears that it may have been mistakenly inferred by management that this time period could be condensed to three weeks. With that being said, this is not a promise, a lie or a guarantee, but we do wish to announce a tentative release date of March 6. This is the first time we have done this publicly for this album. Others have made up all the other dates for their own reasons. We would like to assure the fans that everything in our power will be done to meet this date. Once it is finalized and official, you will be notified. If we are delayed for unseen reasons, you also will be notified as soon as possible in regard to a new date, and the album will be released as shortly thereafter as is possible. We thank you for your patience. In the end, it’s just an album, but it’s one that I, the band, our record company and all involved believe and feel is a true Guns N’ Roses album. Ultimately the public will decide, and regardless of the outcome, our hearts, lives and our passion has been put into this project every step of the way. If for no other reason, we feel those elements alone merit your consideration. We do hope you can hold on just a bit longer, and if not, please take a break and we’ll be more than glad -- if you so choose -- to see you again later. Впечатления нашего земляка от концерта в Birmingham-e 25.07.2006.	14.08.2006
К сожалению никаких видео и фото нет, так как при входе было написано, что нельзя, или конфискуют, как потом оказалось многие пронесли :-) Да в и-нете этого материала полно. Ok, начинаю... Из русскоговорящих я там никого больше не видел, все были англоязычными, это я про фанатов.. Все в футболках с эмблемами GN'R. Я туда пришел рано, поэтому попал в первые ряды, то есть прямо перед сценой. Ждали начала где-то часа 2, и тут выходит первая группа - Skid Row, хорошо сыграли И.М.Х.О., потом вышли Bullet For My Valentine, suxx И.М.Х.О., и встретили их плохо, а когда их барабанщик уходил со сцены, так он вообще всему залу Fuck показал. В итоге разогрев шёл 2-2.5 часа.. Все ждут GN'R. Пол часа их ждали, и вдруг свет гаснет, на сцене происходит какое-то шевеление... И.. появляется Axl Rose и сразу кричит DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE!!? YOU ARE IN THE JUNGLE BABY!! Ну и конеxно начинает петь "Welcome to the Jungle", это было потрясающе.. Они там очень много вещей сыграли. Где-то на середине концерта в перерыве между композициями зал начал кричать "You Could Be Mine"! Но GN'R сыграли "Live and Let Die", а потом "You Could Be Mine". Я в восторге. И где-то на середине "You Could Be Mine" Axl останавливает свою группу, и я вижу что рядом со мной security выдергивают какого-то пьяного фаната,(на самом деле он толкал всех, пытался вперед пролезть), так вот когда Axl увидел он остановился и сказал Security "вы что творите с моими фанами, security?" И GN'R продолжили игру с того момента где закончили. Потом пришел Izzy Stradlin и GN'R стали играть вещи которые написал Stradlin. Потом смотрю на сцене появилось пианино с микрофоном, ну тут сразу ясно - November Rain. Под конец после Nightrain GN'R говорят Thank You и уходят, и буквально через 5 минут возвращаются снова и я слышу знакомую мелодию, все в зале стоят, даже на сидячих местах, с поднятыми руками и в такт мелодии хлопают в ладоши, как вы поняли это была "Paradise City"... A couple of excerpts from the chat follow: FHM: The "Use Your Illusion" tours must have been legendary. Gilby: "It was the best — one of the greatest experiences ever. As a kid, my dream was to play in a loud rock 'n' roll band and it didn't get any better than that. GNR was perfect loud rock and I loved their music. I wasn't trying to be Izzy. I got to be myself, and I played exactly the way I play. Nobody told me to do anything a certain way. It was perfect." FHM: What were Guns N' Roses groupies like? Gilby: "Unbelievable. GNR was the ultimate decadent lifestyle—we were expected to fuck up. I saw some pretty crazy things. GNR had a reputation for being a little tardy when we were playing, so there was always a couple of hours from the opening band until we took the stage. We had cameras that would show all the girls lifting up their shirts — they were just cameras that scan the audience before any concert, but what they didn't realize was we were sitting in the back with walkie-talkies directing where the cameras went." Guns N' Roses completed their European Tour last night with their second consecutive sold out show at London's Wembley Arena. The tour, which started May 25th in Madrid, Spain, played to 700,000 plus people over 32 shows in 18 countries, making it one of the biggest tours of the year on the continent and in the UK. The final show at Wembley almost didn't come to fruition as vocalist Axl Rose was diagnosed with low blood pressure and low blood sugar Sunday morning. He became ill after performing two concerts on Saturday night - the first was the band's scheduled sold out show at Wembley Arena which lasted two and a half hours - and the second an unannounced surprise semi acoustic set which thrilled as many fans as could be jammed into London's Cuckoo Club at 4 am on Sunday morning with hund#CC6600s left standing outside. Rose became ill a couple of hours after the 75 minute performance ended, with a doctor being called to his hotel room. The Physician advised that Rose should be hospitalised and not perform Sunday evening. Rose's response - "fuck that, I have a show to do and I am not missing it." He made it through the two hour performance to the final song of the evening - Nighttrain - before collapsing. The mic was handed to his friend, Sebastian Bach, who completed the performance with an encore of Paradise City. Axl Rose commented, "We have had an amazing tour and it has been fantastic for the band and I to experience this. I approached this last show with equal parts determination, obligation, responsibility and insanity. It was an amazing night. He became ill after performing two concerts on Saturday night - the first was the band's scheduled sold out show at Wembley Arena which lasted two and a half hours - and the second an unannounced surprise semi acoustic set which thrilled as many fans as could be jammed into London's Cuckoo Club at 4 am on Sunday morning with hund#CC6600s left standing outside. Rose became ill a couple of hours after the 75 minute performance ended, with a doctor being called to his hotel room. The Physician advised that Rose should be hospitalised and not perform Sunday evening. Rose's response - "fuck that, I have a show to do and I am not missing it." He made it through the two hour performance to the final song of the evening - Nighttrain - before collapsing. The mic was handed to his friend, Sebastian Bach, who completed the performance with an encore of Paradise City.

Axl Rose commented, "We have had an amazing tour and it has been fantastic for the band and I to experience this. I approached this last show with equal parts determination, obligation, responsibility and insanity. It was an amazing night. I want to thank everyone in Europe and the UK for inspiring us and for giving us the opportunity to play for them. We are now looking forward to the US in September."

Знаменитый альбом U2 «The Joshua Tree» возглавил список «Лучших альбомов 80-х», составленный британским музыкальным изданием Q Magazine. Фронтмен Guns N' Roses Эксл Роуз (Axl Rose) провел сутки за решеткой после инцидента, произошедшего в одном из отелей Стокгольма. He then got in a fight with security biting one of the guards. EDIT Just heard some more on the radio here in the UK. Apparently he was also making threats at police officers. Epiphone Guitar, part of the Gibson Guitar family of brands, is confirmed as the headline sponsor of the fourth annual Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. These awards look set to be the most explosive on the UK calendar when some of the biggest stars from the world of rock and metal go head-to-head.

Koko in London’s Camden Town will host the Metal Hammer Golden Gods which will take place on Monday 12th June 2006 and will see the likes of Guns N’ Roses vocalist Axl Rose and guitarist Slash come face-to-face for the first time since the band split in 1996. Timed to coincide with the end of the Download Festival, the Metal Hammer Golden Gods attracts the attendance of the stars who appear on stage at Donington for one last celebration before heading home.

On Wednesday night, during the band's fourth and final warm-up show at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom, the much-rumo#CC6600 reunion of Axl with erstwhile GN'R guitarist Izzy Stradlin finally came to pass.

Izzy's appearance led many in attendance to believe that former lead guitarist Slash, who was similarly touted by insiders as a possible guest performer before the band's first New York gig on May 12, wouldn't be far behind — but no joy.

Stradlin, who quit the band mid-tour in late 1991 and has since released four albums (solo or with his short-lived group, the Ju Ju Hounds) joined GN'R for three tunes: "Think About You," "Patience" and "Night Train."

The concert, which concluded shortly after 2 a.m., also featu#CC6600 guest vocalist Kid Rock on "Night Train." The four sold-out shows acted as a warm-up for GN'R's European festival appearances this summer. No other North American dates have been scheduled so far.

Rose introduced Stradlin before "Think About You" — although his comments were almost immediately drowned out by screams from the audience as the guitarist strutted onstage. Кроме того, стало известно, что Уильямс также работает и над сольным альбомом вокалиста Velvet Revolver Скотта Вейланда. Детали сотрудничества пока не приводятся. «Darkness - настоящее дерьмо, - считает Jon Bon Jovi. - Я знаю, что они очень популярны в Англии, но хоть убейте, не могу понять причин этой популярности!».

Несмотря на то, что официальная дата релиза «Chinese Democrasy» пока не утверждена (по слухам, альбом появится этой весной), разбухающий на глазах концертный график выступлений группы говорит о том, что «Пушки и Розы» решительно настроены на возвращение. На сегодняшний день в ближайших планах музыкантов - целый семь выступлений в Европе. Учитывая тот факт, что за прошедшие несколько лет Guns N'Roses появлялись на сцене в среднем дважды-трижды в год - причем исключительно на американских площадках, - это большой прогресс. Не исключено, что к этому списку добавятся еще несколько дат. Турне Эксла Роуза и компании по Европе начнется 27 мая выступлением на фестивале Rock In Rio в Лиссабоне и продолжится концертами в Милане (Gods of Metal), Нюрбургрине (Rock am Ring), Дублине, Донингтоне (Download), Австрии (Nova Rock). Гитарист Velvet Revolver и бывший участник Guns N' Roses Слэш утверждает, что ему известна дата релиза «Chinese Democracy» - долгожданного альбома его старой группы, над которым оставшийся единственным из оригинального состава Эксл Роуз трудился последние 10 лет. Как говорит Слэш, диск выйдет «в районе марта» 2006-го.

«Я знаю, я сам раньше скептически отзывался о существовании этой работы, но сейчас все идет к тому, что диск действительно выйдет в марте, - сказал музыкант в интервью филадельфийской радиостанции WMMR. - Это круто, будет на самом деле интересно послушать, что там наваял Эксл за все это время».

По словам Слэша, он узнал о предположительной дате релиза «Китайской демократии» не от самого Эксла Роуза, с которым не общается с момента выхода из группы в начале 90-х, а от своего менеджмента. «Новый альбом Velvet Revolver тоже, наверное, выйдет в марте-апреле-мае, - сказал Слэш, намекая на предположительное соперничество альбомов в чартах. - Так что это будет интересно».

Напомним, что «Chinese Democracy» первоначально должна была выйти еще в 2004-м году, однако с тех пор релиз альбома неоднократно переносился. Сейчас «Китайская демократия» является синонимом чего-то, что не существует в природе, но чем усиленно кормят публику, чтобы создать видимость кипучей деятельности.
